Some of you may have wondered where Damian Lillard’s basketball pictures went. Well… in November last year I was in Disney World having fun with my family. My mom had asked me to set my phones alarm so we could get up early the next day. At about 12:30 am I received a call, which woke all of us up. I thought who in the WORLD! Have asleep I got up walked alway across the room and missed the call. I listened to the message that was left and was so tired i had no idea what the person was say. I went back to sleep. The next morning after waking up my phone started to go CRAZY I was getting text messages and emails galore.
Come to find out it was calls from Weber’s entire athletic dept. and the NCAA. It was all about the pictures of Damian. NCAA players images are not allowed to be used for advertising proposes. I had never used them for advertising. I did however post them to my blog and what not. But I did over look one thing. My logo! In an effort to protect my images and make sure others did not steal my photos I added my logo to the bottom of the logo. So in a small way it could be seen as promoting my website/business.
I profusely apologized to the athletic departmental heads and the NCAA (these guys were incredibly nice!). I hurried to the nearest computer and pulled the images, all while in Orlando Florida. I was told after further looking at how I had used the images, that it was really not a big deal but they wanted to use extreme precaution.
So I let things settle down, and have removed my logo and replaced it with the Signpost‘s logo. All and all it was a great learning experience. I also want to officially apologize to Damien, I’m sure he was just as freaked out as I was. I guess the NCAA and department heads were drilling him with questions. Sorry for that!
So just to clarify, these following pictures were taken for The Signpost (Weber State’s Paper)! These photos are also by Bryan Butterfield (which is me).
- This was the original photo that was placed on the front of the Signpost Cover
